Oh I know what you mean about lack of quotation marks. I actually had to give up on a book because I was spending more time correcting things in my head than I was reading the book. I still haven't seen The Tale of Despereaux movie because I haven't gotten around to reading this one yet. I really liked Because of Winn-Dixie but it's the only book by her I've read.
