Thursday Tea is a weekly meme hosted by yours truly. To play along, all you need is some tea, a book, and the answers to these questions: what tea are you drinking (and do you like it)? What book are you reading (and do you like it)? Tell us a little about your tea and your book, and whether or not the two go together.
The book: I’m about halfway through The Veiled Detective by David Stuart Davies, which is a Sherlock Holmes pastiche that supposed Watson is not really Watson and he’s under the employ of Moriarty throughout the Watson-Holmes relationship. It’s an interesting idea, but I was expecting it to be more emotional, because Watson DOES like Holmes and doesn’t like Moriarty and wants to be out from under his thumb. And so I was expecting some sort of “woe I am betraying my best friend” thing– but then, they’ve only just started being friends in the part I’m at so maybe the angst will come later.
(I do like me some Watson angst, I must say. Also when he and Holmes are all “you’re so awesome and I love you being your friend and solving mysteries and let’s go out and KICK ASS TOGETHER.”
The 2009 movie? LOVE IT.)
The tea: I’ve found my packet of blood orange tea from Stash Tea, but I think it’s gotten weaker since the last time I’ve used it because it doesn’t taste the same now as it did a year ago when I first bought it. Dang.
Do they go together? Well, I specifically drank blood orange tea today because of the murder-mystery-Holmes book, and so they go together in that way. But I can’t recall anyone in the book actually drinking tea themselves, which is weird because in the original series don’t Holmes and Watson drink tea, like, every other page?!
What are you drinking/reading this Thursday?
