So I’ve decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month this year, mostly after thinking of a REALLY GOOD plot for a book (I think, anyway) and wanting to try writing it down. I have no idea if I’m a decent fiction writer or not, but, well, I want to try.
My novel idea is a YA mystery! With a headstrong female protagonist who’s trying to be a female Sherlock Holmes, basically (and she’s pretty decent at it, too). And there’s no romance. And it’s in a hospital! In England! Which means a lot of research, unfortunately. And doubly more research is needed because it’s set in the 1980s, because this novel is a prequel to another series I have an idea for, where my character is grown up and has her own private detective firm, and that’s set in the modern times. Possibly I have dug myself into a big hole, here. Possibly just watching a lot of British television shows is not good enough research for writing a book. Hm.
My character’s name is Sydney Babbage, by the way, and she looks a bit like Marcie from Dark Season:

Are any of you doing NaNoWriMo? Wanna be writing buddies?
